Privacy notice

This notice explains how Ashton Road Pharmacy collects, uses and protects your personal information, and the rights you have over it.

Who we are

Ashton Road Pharmacy is run by Alchemy Pharma Limited, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 08328917), registered office Richmond House, 50 Tontine Street, Ground Floor, Blackburn, BB1 7ED. We are the data controller for the personal information we hold about you.

Our data protection lead is Asim Bhatti, Superintendent Pharmacist. Contact them on 0161 624 3085, or by post at 366 Ashton Road, Oldham, OL8 3HF.

What information we hold

  • Your name, date of birth, address, phone number and email address.
  • Your NHS number and GP practice.
  • Your prescriptions, medicines and the services we have given you.
  • Information about your health that you share with us during a consultation.
  • Details of anyone who acts on your behalf, such as a parent or carer.
  • Payment records for private services. We do not store card details.

How we use it

  • To dispense your prescriptions and give you safe advice about your medicines.
  • To provide NHS services, such as Pharmacy First, vaccinations, blood pressure checks and contraception.
  • To provide private services you book with us.
  • To set your nominated pharmacy when you ask us to.
  • To contact you about your prescriptions, appointments and requests.
  • To claim payment from the NHS for the services we provide, and to meet our legal and regulatory duties.

We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing.

Our legal reasons for using it

  • NHS services: providing NHS care is a task in the public interest, and we have legal obligations as an NHS pharmacy (UK GDPR Article 6(1)(e) and 6(1)(c)).
  • Private services: to carry out the service you have asked for (Article 6(1)(b)).
  • Health information: to provide health and social care (Article 9(2)(h)), under a duty of confidentiality.

Who we share it with

We only share what is needed, and only for the reasons above:

  • Your GP practice and other people directly involved in your care.
  • NHS systems such as the Electronic Prescription Service, the Personal Demographics Service and your National Care Records.
  • NHS England and the NHS Business Services Authority, to be paid for NHS services and for checks on prescription charge exemptions.
  • NHS Greater Manchester, which commissions our NHS services.
  • Regulators and authorities when the law requires it, such as the General Pharmaceutical Council.
  • Companies that handle data for us under contract, including Netlify, which hosts this website and passes nomination form submissions to us.
  • Companies that handle data for us under contract, including Deltera, which runs our online booking system.
  • Companies that handle data for us under contract, including the supplier of our patient medication record system.

How long we keep it

We keep records for as long as the NHS Records Management Code of Practice and the law require, then destroy them securely.

How we keep it safe

Only staff who need your information can see it. Our staff are trained in confidentiality and data protection, and we complete the NHS Data Security and Protection Toolkit every year.

Your rights

  • To get a copy of the information we hold about you.
  • To ask us to correct information that is wrong.
  • To object to or ask us to limit how we use your information, in some circumstances.
  • To ask us to delete information, where we are not required to keep it.

To use any of these rights, contact our data protection lead. We will reply within one month.

National data opt-out

We use your information to provide your care, not for research or planning, so the national data opt-out does not affect how we use it. You can find out more or set your choice at nhs.uk/your-nhs-data-matters.

This website

  • This website does not use cookies or tracking.
  • Our fonts load from Google Fonts, which means Google receives your device's internet address when the page loads.
  • If you send our nomination form, we use your details only to set your nominated pharmacy and to contact you about it.
  • Booking links take you to other websites, such as the NHS and our booking system. Their own privacy notices apply there.

Complaints about how we use your information

Please contact our data protection lead first. If you are still unhappy, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office on 0303 123 1113 or at ico.org.uk.
